TELEMATE SOKARI, MS-II
[ secretary@amphl.org ]

Telematé holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Kansas. He is currently a second year medical student at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
He had sudden hearing loss at the age of six apparently due to a measles infection that he had as a child and was subsequently diagnosed with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. He has been wearing a hearing aid since age nine. He was able to complete his primary, secondary, and post secondary educations without accommodations.
He is currently conducting a research study on hearing health disparities concerning infants with hearing loss and failed follow-up visits. The importance of implementing early interventions for infants that fail their hearing screening is vital for their cognitive and language development.
Telematé participates in AMPHL with the goal of providing guidance to those that come after him and find themselves in a similar situation with similar challenges.
