NANCY RENNERT, M.D.

Nancy experienced bilateral sudden severe-profound hearing loss during pregnancy with her third child. She received a cochlear implant in 2001. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism) at Yale University School of Medicine and teaches Internal Medicine residents and medical students at Norwalk Hospital in CT. Her professional interests are in the care of diabetic women and in the prevention and management of adult onset (Type 2) diabetes in children. Nancy participates in AMPHL because finding others who succeeded in medicine with a hearing loss was critical towards helping her continue her career after losing her hearing. She has a special interest in stethoscope use for health professionals with hearing loss.
