MARCIA KOLVITZ, Ph.D.

Throughout her career, Marcia has
worked in educational settings with people
who are deaf or hard of hearing. She is currently the Director of
the Postsecondary Education Consortium (PEC) at the University of Tennessee,
Knoxville. PEC is one of four regional centers that provide outreach and
technical assistance to colleges, universities, and training programs as they
work with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Marcia conducts
training and develops resource materials related to access in higher
education. Although she does not have a hearing loss, she became interested in
working with deaf and hard of hearing people as an undergraduate at Northern
Illinois University where she majored in Communicative Disorders. She received
a master’s degree with an emphasis in deafness rehabilitation counseling from
NIU and completed a doctorate with an emphasis in human resource development
and adult education at the University of Tennessee. She is interested in
supporting and promoting educationals and career opportunities for individuals
who are deaf or hard of hearing. Marcia lives in Indianapolis.
