CANDICE A. CORRIHER, D.V.M. - Past President

Candie has a bilateral profound deafness resulting from spinal meningitis at age 5. She was raised to communicate orally and does not know sign language. She received a cochlear implant in 1997 at age 28, and had revision surgery in October 2005 with an explantation of her old cochlear implant and re-implantation with a new one. She has been working hard on auditory rehabilitation and continues to improve! Candie was mainstreamed in private schools prior to attending N.C. State University where she received her B.S. in Animal Science in 1991 and her D.V.M. in 1995. She was an equine practitioner for 5 years before making the transition to small animal medicine. She currently lives in Front Royal, VA and is a small animal private practice veterinarian. Candie is a part of AMPHL because veterinary school was the toughest challenge she ever faced. She wants to encourage others following in her footsteps and she wants to share her experiences so that others can build on what she has learned. Contact Candie with concerns or questions.
