Home > Committees .:
This page includes various committee projects that AMPHL is currently working on. We always need assistance. If you would like to serve on a particular committee, please contact the committee chair(s) at the committee email addresses provided below.
"Advocacy" Committee advocacy@amphl.org
The purpose of this committee is to be pro-active with public policy and/ or
political issues affecting health care professionals with hearing losses.
The goal is to increase our access into health care professions. Currently,
the main advocacy project is ensuring the manufacture of a clear surgical
mask that enables lipreading.
"AMPHL Conference" Committee conference@amphl.org
This committee is in charge of organizing and coordinating
the AMPHL conference, which is held at a different location each time. The conference
encompasses presentations by a variety of individuals on topics relevant to AMPHL's
audience, a stethoscope and assistive listening device (ALD) display, and an
opportunity for attendees to network and provide valuable input regarding AMPHL's
future projects and goals. The conference committee is also responsible for putting together panel presentations at other conferences such as the ones we have done in the past at the PepNet, SHHH, and AGBell conferences.
"AMPHL Website" Committee webmaster@amphl.org
The website committee has the task of keeping the AMPHL website information up-to-date.
"Bylaws" Commitee
The bylaws committee is responsible for evaluating AMPHL's bylaws in light of new conflicts and goals that arise throughout AMPHL's operations. Any changes that may be necessary to the bylaws are discussed and drafted by the bylaw committee prior to presentation for discussion, revision and approval to AMPHL's Directors and Officers. AMPHL does not currently have a bylaws committee chair. This position must be held by an AMPHL officer or director so if you are an officer or director interested in taking this on, contact president@amphl.org
"AMPHL Profession Focus" Committee focus@amphl.org
The purpose of this committee is to determine which healthcare disciplines or fields AMPHL will represent. This ensures that AMPHL is able to effectively represent as many professions as possible without becoming too diverse and without creating redundancy of services that can be found through other advocacy groups such as NAD, SHHH, and AGBell.
"Fundraising" Committee fundraising@amphl.org
The purpose of this committee is to secure donations from corporate donors. These donations are the basis of AMPHL's operating abilities and ensure funding for advocacy and conferences. Committee work mainly involves mailing/emailing donation requests and followup letters.
"Publicity" Committee publicity@amphl.org
This committee searches for opportunities to help spread the word about AMPHL and its services. This includes contacting colleges and universities, training programs, and disability offices. The publicity committee is also responsible for publicity for AMPHL events such as conferences and formal social gatherings.
"Registry" Committee registry@amphl.org
The purpose of this committee is to establish and
maintain a registry of healthcare professionals with
hearing loss for statistical and historical data. The media and interested individuals often ask AMPHL how many Deaf/HOH people there are in each profession, so the more Deaf/HOH medical professionals who sign up with our registry, the more accurate our numbers will be.
"Secondary School/Outreach" Committee
This committee's goal is to reach out to individuals with hearing loss at an early age and increase their awareness of the number of successful health care professionals with hearing loss and of AMPHL and the support it can provide. AMPHL does not currently have a secondary school/outreach committee chair, so if you are interested in taking this on, contact president@amphl.org
"Subscribership" Committee subreg@amphl.org
The subscribership committee has the task of establishing and overseeing a system by which a yearly set dollar amount from an individual will allow that individual to obtain benefits. Such benefits include access to restricted portions of the AMPHL website, and discounts on conference fees and stethoscopes. The subscribership committee reviews subscriber feedback and continually re-evaluates the benefits offered.
"Finance" Committee treasurer@amphl.org
The finance committee is headed by the AMPHL Treasurer and is responsible for overseeing AMPHL's finances and making decisions on how such funds will be used. Finance committee members must be AMPHL directors or officers, but suggestions/comments are always welcome.
