Stacey was born with a profound bilateral hearing loss, and she communicates by speaking and lipreading. She received a cochlear implant in 2000. Stacey is a doctorally prepared registered nurse, and is certified as a nurse practitioner. She has practiced in acute care, long term care, rehabilitation, psych, and academic settings. In addition, she is also a lipreader translator for patients who are on ventilators and cannot use their voices. She earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, her master's degree in nursing from the University of Connecticut at Storrs, and her PhD in nursing from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA.
Stacey is involved with AMPHL to raise awareness that people with hearing loss can make excellent nurses, and she would like to assist in finding ways to make the journey into the profession less difficult for others with hearing loss.
